We drove through a neighborhood in west Edmonton today and discovered over a dozen different churches in about three square blocks. It was a gorgeous day, and a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Notice "Church Street" at the top of each sign.
Avenues run east and west; streets run north and south.

Here is a list of other churches we saw: Methodist, Wesleyan, Church of the First People, Holy Trinity Canadian Orthodox, Ansgar Lutheran, St. John Evangelical Lutheran, Chinese Lutheran, Mui Kwok Buddist Temple, Oddfellows Temple (not sure this is actually a church), Rhema African, Christian Life Community, One Accord Bible Fellowship Baptist, First Christian, and St. Peter Lutheran.

Dandelions are everywhere!

Mother's Day - 2017

APs Hunsaker and Payne revealing a new mode of transportation.

Every six weeks the Assistants and Zone Leaders have a "tie swap" at the office.

Elder Alvey is soon to complete his mission. He came prepared for some serious negotiations.

The elders surround a table and negotiate trades. The objective is to acquire "lofty" ties while giving up as few ties as possible. Some ties are so desirable that as many as six ties have been traded for one "lofty" tie.

Last night President and Sister Paittison hosted the third Mandarin Cottage Meeting.

These Mandarin-speaking missionaries spent about three hours preparing the food.
From left to right are Elders Yu, Lian, Lin, Higham, and Cheng

Elder Lian, from Taiwan, is the main chef. He wants to start a catering business after his mission.

The Pattisons invited Grace who was baptized earlier in the day.

There were about 30 people in attendance.
The Pattison's youngest son, Jacob, is in the foreground.

I teach about vehicle safety in zone conferences. During the most recent conference I told a story from my mission. In Scotland we generally walked or rode bikes. At one point I did drive a mission vehicle like the Bedford pictured below.

I told the missionaries that I made a sign and attached it to the Bedford's dashboard. The sign said, "Drive with Kerr." I then told them that our last name is Scottish and it is correctly pronounced "care." I finished my safety presentation by telling them to, "Be safe and drive with "Kerr."

This week Elder Thomas sent the following drawing.

Signs of spring are appearing -- and for the first time since our arrival,
it was actually warm enough to wear shirt sleeves!

 Canadian sunset

I saw this pommel horse-looking stand in a McDonald's.
I suppose its purpose is for leaning against while waiting for your order.

Elder and Sister Watson are church service missionaries who serve with us in the office.
He is the mission finance secretary and she is the referral secretary. Nice people.

While I was at zone conferences inspecting cars this week, Sandy and Sister Watson cleaned and organized the storage room where vehicle-related items are kept.
They could hardly wait to show me the surprise!
